T20 World Cup 2020 is Here At Last!
The much anticipated T20 World Cup 2020 is going to begin in about 10 months and we can’t keep our excitement under control. Here is all you need to know about it –
Australia is the host nation and the teams that have qualified for participating in the T20 World Cup 2020 are – England, India, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Netherland, Papua New Guinea, Ireland, Namibia, Scotland and Oman, and the host nation, of course.
The matches will be held across 7 venues in Australia. The venues are –
- Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. The venue will host 7 semi-final matches.
- TheGabba in Brisbane. The venue will host 4 matches.
- Kardinia Park in Geelong. The venue will host 6 matches.
- Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The venue will host 8 matches.
- Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. The venue will host 7 final matches.
- Perth Stadium in Perth. The venue will host 6 matches.
- Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. The venue will host 7 semi-final matches.
The schedule of the first round and Super 12s has already been released. In the First Round, Ireland, Oman, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka make Group A. Their matches will be held as follows –
- Sri Lanka vs Ireland on 18th October 2020
- Papua New Guinea vs Oman on 18th October 2020
- Ireland vs Oman on 20th October 2020
- Sri Lanka vs Papua New Guinea on 20th October 2020
- Papua New Guinea vs Ireland on 22nd October 2020
- Sri Lanka vs Oman on 22nd October 2020
All the matches for Group A will be held at Kardinia Park, Geelong.
Bangaldesh, Namibia, Scotland and Netherlands make Group B. Their matches will be held as follows –
- Bangladesh vs Namibia on 19th October 2020
- Netherlands vs Scotland on 19th October 2020
- Namibia vs Scotland on 21st October 2020.
- Netherlands vs Bangladesh on 21st October 2020
- Netherlands vs Namibia on 23rd October 2020
- Bangladesh vs Scotland on 23rd October 2020
All the matches for Group B will be held at Bellerive Oval, Hobart.
In the Super 12s, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand and West Indies form Group 1. A1 and B2 will be selected as per the matches of the First Round. Their matches will be held as follows –
- Australia vs Pakistan on 24th October 2020 at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney
- A1 vs B2 on 25th October 2020 at Bellerive Oval, Hobart
- New Zealand vs West Indies on 25th October 2020 at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne

- Australia vs West Indies on 28th October 2020 at Perth Stadium, Perth

Afghanistan, India, England and South Africa have formed Group B in the Super 12s. A2 and B1 will be selected as per the matches of the first round. Group B’s matches will be held as follows –

The semi-final matches will be held on 11th November 2020 at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney and 12th November 2020 at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.
